Biography
Name
Alex Riley

Tall, sleek and unconventionally handsome, Alex Riley is not from Wigan. A naturally funny and highly individual presenter/performer, Alex has an exceptional talent for improvisation both on television and radio.

Born and brought up in Sheffield, car enthusiast Alex began his television career answering an on-air appeal for researchers on his favourite programme, BBC’s Top Gear, and got the job. At Top Gear he wrote scripts for the presenters, before being given the chance to present his own items.

He is best known for his work presenting on the BBC's popular show Mischief the amusing stunt driven documentry strand, where he presented Road Rage Revenge, Cheap Homes For Sale and Britain’s Really Disgusting Food. Off the back of the success of this, Alex then went on to present a three part series Britains Really Disgusting Foods; Meat, Fish and Dairy which has just been nominated for the best news and current affairs catergory at this years Broadcast Digital Television Awards.

Continuing the Disgusting strand, he is currently filming Britains Really Disgusting Drinks due to be transmitted on the BBC later this year.

Alex’s other work includes writing and presenting the ten part series Short Circuits a witty and innovative series for Discovery Home and Leisure which combined the excitement of a Scalextric racing competition with tips on making realistic scenery out of chicken wire. Two series of the action-packed entertainment series Boys Toys for (ITV1 Westcountry), the highly successful Caravan Show (Discovery Real Time), the tongue-in-cheek active sports and gadget series You Know You Want To (ITV1 Westcountry) and, appropriately for the driver of a Triumph TR7, Classic Car Club (Discovery Real Time). Making Money From Antiques (Discovery Real Time), a hit 10 part series, saw Alex learn the realities of dealing in quality 20th Century art and design taking him on a road trip round Europe with  the hugely knowledgeable and extremely opinionated dealer Ceri Levy.

He is also a regular topical guest presenter on the BBC's ONE SHOW.

Aswell as presenting, Alex enjoyed acting the role of the irate estate agent Bruce Miller in the short film Tommy the Tungsten Robot, produced by Richard Preddy the writer of Green Wing and Smack the Pony.

Since its launch in 2002, Alex has been the writer and voice of the award winning BBC Radio 7's Comedy Club, introducing contemporary comedy shows and interviewing top comedians five nights a week.
